Position Overview

As the Project Manager, Compression, you will bring your proven project management track record on multi-compressor stations projects to the Regional Gas Supply Diversification (RGSD) project. The RGSD project is designed to improve resiliency on our existing natural gas supply system and will include the first pipeline to transport hydrogen in addition to natural gas. It will link large-scale low-carbon hydrogen production from Alberta to the Lower Mainland and Pacific Northwest. 

 

You will provide project management services starting with the selection of a suitable engineering consultant, owner’s engineer, and support team. You will take us through to preliminary design, pre and front engineering design, and detailed engineering for the natural gas compressor stations. The Project Manager will ensure appropriate management, regulator, customer and stakeholder involvement through the life of the project and may extend into construction and commissioning. 

In this role, you will:

  • Work with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders with differing interests and responsibilities
  • Successfully lead a team of professionals and work collaboratively with Indigenous Nations and local communities to successfully establish compressor station design
  • Co-ordinate and assign resources to meet project objectives
  • Challenge the status quo and look for better ways to improve processes
  • Work within budgets and deadlines to deliver requirements on time
  • Demonstrate the ability to think and act strategically

In year 1, you will:

  • Acquire a solid understanding of the Company’s internal processes, standards, policies, and procedures and a detailed understanding of the RGSD project
  • Initiate pre–Front Engineering Design and Class IV cost estimate
  • Assist in development of the Initial Project Description
  • Collaborate with Indigenous Nations and local communities on establishing compressor stations design
  • Schedule and organize resources appropriately

In year 2, you will:

  • Complete pre–Front Engineering Design and Class IV cost estimate
  • Assist in preparation of the Certificate of Public Convenience & Necessity
  • Assist in development of Detailed Project Description
  • Develop and manage highly effective multi-disciplinary teams
  • Continue to build and leverage relationships with stakeholders

What it takes:

  • Ten (10) years of experience on major pipeline projects 
  • PMP designation is welcomed but not necessary
  • The ability to develop collaborative working relationships with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience and skills successfully leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge and experience in project permitting and reporting 
  • Ability to communicate project requirements and details to a variety of audiences in small or large groups
  • Knowledge of contract processes and contract management in a complex multi-regulatory environment
  • Effective and visible resource planning
  • Experience in estimating, budget development and control, change order and change management processes
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management processes
  • Effective organizational, time management and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and related cost objectives
  • Willingness to travel, be in the field and support project requirements 
  • Ability to build strong, honest, and transparent relationships

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
