Position Overview

You're someone with a knack for the small details. You’re efficient went it comes to excel spreadsheets, and your appetite for growth, learning, and continuous improvement positions you as a valuable team member in driving our business forward.

As an operation accounting analyst, you'll manage payments for vendors and receivables from customers for FortisBC Alternative Energy Services Inc. (FAES). Reporting to the business planning and performance manager, this position focuses on performing financial analysis of operational activities assisting FAES in achieving operational growth and excellence.

So, if you're ready to roll up your sleeves and make a real impact, join us in transforming B.C.’s energy future.

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute meaningful analysis on timesheets, cost centres, spending on capital and other trends identified. Based on those analyses, you’ll provide capital and operating accrual recommendations at month-end with evidence to support justification.
  • Be a primary resource in providing supplemental information for customer and British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) questions, leveraging operational and financial data.
  • Proactively flag irregularities in financial records and help substantiate movements in accounts for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to FAES management and Board of Directors. In addition, you will use analysis conducted throughout the year to inform trends to be integrated into the annual business planning process.
  • Process vendor invoices, manage purchase orders, and monitor customer balances for collection.

What it takes:

  • A diploma in accounting or a related discipline.
  • Three years of relevant work experience
  • An equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience may be considered.
  • A demonstrated ability to perform analysis using various features in Excel as well as experience in monitoring multiple cost centres and assets ledgers.
  • The ability to exercise judgement and offer recommendations. Familiarity with criteria for asset capitalization is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional communication and attention to detail to engage with stakeholders across the business as you provide capital and operating accrual recommendations.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
