Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Energy Systems Operations, the Energy Systems Operations Specialist is responsible for creating value for our customers, employees and shareholders by providing site related assistance along with building technical expertise as well as liaising with customers, service providers and other stakeholders and in providing general administrative and operational support to maximize the performance of FAES Energy Systems Operations group.

In this role, you will:

  • Supporting Energy Systems Operation Leads/Managers in their role to co-ordinate and execute various special projects, such as replace/repair of on-site assets,
  • Perform various entry level tasks such as regular visual inspection and reporting for on-site FAES assets,
  • Custodian for organizing access to sites, organizing, and monitoring of on-site asset housekeeping requirements, 
  • Facilitate and monitor preventative maintenance work and similar activities performed by 3rd party contractors on FAES assets. Validate work performed was as per scope of work to maintain quality,
  • On-site maintenance and storage of all documents, spare parts etc. relevant to on-site FAES assets,
  • Works co-operatively with other employees with minimum supervision,
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, internal stakeholders and other departments.  Remain current and knowledgeable about various energy systems, conventional and alternative systems including, heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC & R, pumps, fans, motors and boilers),  
  • Participate in industry working groups and training as required.

What it takes:

  • Completion of a diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field such as Facilities Management, Operations Management, Energy Management, HVAC.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Certificate in operations management or candidate will be considered as an asset.
  • Knowledge of direct digital control (DDC) would be considered an asset.
  • A valid drivers license (Class 5) and a clean driving record,
  • Formal operational and safety training including: First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, TDG / WHMIS and Defensive Driving,
  • Knowledge of safety management, processes, and procedures,
  • Knowledge of various energy systems, conventional and alternative systems including, heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC & R, pumps, fans, motors, boilers) would be considered an asset 
  • Knowledge of computer and MS Office systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding work schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
