Position Overview
As a Technical Analyst at FortisBC, this position is responsible for providing technical support to the end users at FortisBC. This includes, but is not limited to, desktop computing, mobile computing, communications, end-user support, printing devices, network infrastructure and server storage, data centre equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide frontline technical support to our end users
- Complete departmental helpdesk/deskside functions including problem receiving, recording, and tracking
- Action technology service requests
- Troubleshoot end user issues (hardware and company standard software)
- Provide support and tracking for mobile and smart devices
- Complete upgrades, installations, and preventive maintenance tasks
- Repair computer software and/or hardware and work with external vendors to obtain repairs when necessary
- Liaise with senior support on behalf of client
- Deploy device images and software packages
- Acquire quotes and procurement of necessary hardware and software
- Set-up/receive/deliver PC equipment, recycle of excess surplus equipment
- Record software and hardware asset modifications
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company’s computer systems
- Estimate/complete a series of tasks required for a minor project
- Some travel may be required
Requirements
- 2 year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology, Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience related work experience.
- Familiar with current operating systems applicable to the job.
- Familiar with imaging processes
- Familiar with software deployment
- Maintaining business contacts with suppliers, service reps and other businesses.
- Familiar with Windows Server based network environment including user maintenance, scheduling, printer configuration, remote connectivity, etc.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office applications, collaboration and communication systems
- Knowledge of peripherals and network attached devices including but not limited to printers, scanners, plotters, cameras, mobile, smart devices
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s license
