Position Overview

You’re a results-driven vegetation management expert with a passion for finding solutions to achieve business objectives while protecting the environment where we live and work. You’re safety conscious in all you do and make sound decisions to overcome challenges without putting safety at risk. 

 

As our Operations Supervisor, Right of Way, you’ll provide direction for our electric vegetation management program and ensure all processes are followed to protect our electric assets and surrounding vegetation in our maintenance right of ways. You’ll use your troubleshooting skills to create safe and effective solutions while overseeing contractors to ensure our work is completed correctly and safely.

In year 1, you will:

  • Familiarize yourself with FortisBC’s electric infrastructure and systems
    Understand the program and reinforce program requirements in high-conflict situations.
  • Take on several innovative initiatives to improve our approach and work. 
  • Be responsible for improving the electric vegetation management program and work closely with vegetation contractors. 

In year 2, you will:

  • Look for opportunities to improve the efficiency and execution of our work. 
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on unique initiatives and execute programs that achieve our business objectives and goals.

What it takes:

  • Five years of management experience with a focus on natural resource management, forestry, arboriculture, or similar fields. 
  • Registered as or eligible for registration as a Professional Forester, Registered Forest Technologist or a Professional equivalent.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree of Technology in a related discipline.
  • Specialized knowledge related to wildfires, dangerous trees, invasive weeds, etc.
  • Experience with financial and budget oversight, including managing costs associated with facilities, vehicles, equipment and third-party contracts and internal service agreements.
  • A passion for developing quality solutions with a safety-focused mindset. 
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to strengthening connections in the workplace.
