Position Overview
This position is accountable for overseeing the operations resource management functions to meet the Transmission & Distribution demands with consideration to system reliability and in accordance with FortisBC System Safety and Lockout procedures; aligns work and resources for optimal scheduling to support efficient delivery of all work on the transmission and distribution assets.
In this role, you will:
- Schedule, prioritize and delegate operational and/or project work for Transmission and Distribution, anticipating medium-term resource requirements and determining the best approach to meet operational/project needs for the respective area.
- Provide direction and leadership using effective management techniques to a highly technical team, including the Power-line Technicians; Set goals and objectives and determine priorities; Oversee the Transmission & Distribution resources to meet operational demands.
- Be directly accountable for the operational budget for Transmission & Distribution projects; Monitor operational/project costs and identify solutions for cost optimization; Contribute to financial performance of the operations by managing costs effectively.
- Ensure safety and mandatory reliability standards, policies and procedures are established and implemented in accordance with FortisBC policy and standards with minimum impact to the efficiency of the operation of the operations.
What it takes:
- Power Line Technician plus 4-7 years of Transmission and Distribution experience, including operations/construction and supervisory experience; Technology Diploma would be considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of the electric power system infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of project management.
- Working knowledge of Transmission and Distribution systems is required.
- Working knowledge of SPR’s, Work Safe Regulations, company safety policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge in MS Office.
- Basic knowledge of labour relations.
- Basic knowledge of budget concepts and principles.
