IS Communication Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for communicating all IS related items via intranet pages or other FortisBC method of communication. (General IS Information, Policy Reminders, Server/Application Activities, Projects, Virus Alerts, Outages, Training Material etc.).
  • Develops and/or updates a variety of web sites within Information Systems and is responsible for maintaining the Information Systems web site.
  • Maintains and updates server/application information for the server/application database (impact, contacts, owners, etc.).
  • Participates in the development of IS policies and acts as a resource for policy related to matters regarding change control, incident and problem management, Internet Code of Conduct, Acceptable Use Policy, Disaster Recovery Plans, General IS Policy, etc.
  • Develops and/or updates various user guides and other written communications (e.g. New User IS Operations Orientation Package).
  • Develops and/or updates Knowledge Base articles with information relevant to internal customer IS processes.
  • Develops communication for all outages. Helps to identify recurring problems and follows up with IS personnel on status of outage. Participates in change control and severity 1 and 2 root cause analysis processes.
  • Participates in development of overall Change Management strategy for program related initiatives. (e.g. Infrastructure projects with end user impacts).
  • Participates in regular change control meetings, functions as a permanent member of the Change Advisory Board (CAB) providing communication and awareness of system changes.
  • Develops communications, job aides, and training for a variety of IS projects, initiatives and/or issues as they arise. 
  • Administers monthly reporting on service levels.
  • Performs additional related duties, which do not affect the rating of the position.

Requirements

  • Certificate in Communications supplemented by courses related to Computer Information Systems, or a certificate related to Computer Information Systems supplemented by courses in Communications and Web design.
  • Three (3) years directly related relevant experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer network concepts and web development (content and design).
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems operations, environment and peripherals.
  • Thorough knowledge of communication technology and software in use in FortisBC.
  • Strong communications planning and project management skills with sound budgeting and time management skills, including the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proofreading, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
