Position Overview
The Technical Systems Analyst 3 (TSA 3) provides advanced infrastructure support across FortisBC’s core pillars: Infrastructure, Systems, Network, and Unified Communications (UC). The role contributes to complex diagnostics, strategic initiatives, and cross-platform projects. The role manages their workload and project contributions independently and collaborates closely with Administrators and other technical teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of FortisBC’s infrastructure environments.
Responsibilities
- Provides advanced technical support across infrastructure platforms, including complex diagnostics and resolution.
- Performs troubleshooting efforts for infrastructure hardware and software issues across systems, network, and UC environments.
- Plans and executes infrastructure upgrades, installations, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Contributes to the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions aligned with organizational standards.
- Documents advanced procedures, configurations, and architectural decisions in the problem management system.
- Provides advanced technical support to infrastructure projects, including planning, execution, testing, and post-implementation review.
- Provides guidance and technical leadership to TSA 1 staff and collaborates with Administrators and other senior technical staff to support strategic initiatives and platform improvements.
- Sets up, delivers, and assists with disposal of infrastructure assets such as servers, network equipment, and UC hardware.
- Liaises with vendors for advanced support coordination, equipment servicing, and solution evaluation.
- Maintains current knowledge of FortisBC infrastructure systems, standards, and tools.
- Evaluates emerging technologies and contributes to infrastructure roadmap discussions.
- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above that do not affect the evaluation of the job.
- Some travel may be required.
Requirements
- Completion of 2-year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ related work experience.
- Advanced knowledge of infrastructure systems including data center operations, networking, and Unified Communications.
- Experience leading troubleshooting and resolution of complex infrastructure issues.
- Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, automation, and orchestration tools.
- Ability to contribute to infrastructure design and strategic planning.
- Experience with scripting, automation, and integration across platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong written and oral communications and presentation skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to manage medium to large-scale projects.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s license.
Additional Information
This role is primarily for the Enterprise Patch Management team in which we concentrate on keeping the enterprise environment up to date for all hardware and software connected to the network.
In this role you will need to be:
- Experienced in SCCM, Intune, and Update Manager.
- Experienced with Ansible and Linux RedHat administration and patching.
- Experienced with iOS and Android patching.
- Experienced with Windows Server and Endpoint Patching and Management.
- Interested in automation.
