Position Overview

As a Senior Project Manager specializing in Risk, you will play a pivotal role in the governance and oversight of a diverse and dynamic Major Projects portfolio. You will hold primary responsibility for the implementation, enhancement, and continuous improvement of the Phase Gate and Risk Management Framework, ensuring all projects maintain the highest standards of governance, risk mitigation, and stakeholder confidence. This is a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of major initiatives and ensure projects are delivered successfully within an optimized and well-governed environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the implementation and continual refinement of the Phase Gate Framework, continue to refine and improve the framework and provide governance at each phase of the project lifecycle.
  • Manage the continuous improvement of the Risk Management Framework, driving the identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks and opportunities across all stages of the project lifecycle, in alignment with AACE TCM principles.
  • Champion the ongoing development of the Project Management Handbook ensuring streamlined processes and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Take full ownership of the design and management of all governance documentation related to the Major Projects portfolio, maintaining a central and accessible repository on SharePoint for the seamless flow of project data and information.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar program from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a project management role, with demonstrated increased levels of responsibility
  • Project Manager Professional (PMP) designation is desired – willingness and ability to obtain designation is required.
  • Certifications or membership in professional bodies such as EGBC, PMI, AACEI, or CII will be considered a strong asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the industry.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • A strong safety mindset pertaining to design, operations and construction.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
