Position Overview

You’re a strategic leader who cares about details and knows how to analyze data and optimize results so maintenance frequencies are effectively streamlined. With your planning mindset, you know how to oversee the maintenance planning, processes, and benchmarking to lead a team to success. As a natural collaborator, your strong communication skills have led you build successful business relationships. We need someone like you to step into our Senior Engineer, Maintenance Planning and Reliability position.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders, including field operations, plant operations, Engineering, Finance, and the Project Management Office.
  • Provide leadership to staff in the development, refinement, and maintenance of Operations and Maintenance programs specific to all Fortis BC Energy natural gas assets. 
  • Develop metrics and benchmarking for maintenance performance, asset reliability and costs; communicate metrics and performance to stakeholders.
  • Collect feedback from operations stakeholders for improvements to maintenance plans and performance measures.

What it takes:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering from a recognized program, plus 8-12 years’ relevant experience. 
  • Experience in process plant maintenance and/or the gas utility industry is an asset. 
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of maintenance, reliability, and asset management principles, while a master of the ability to balance multiple priorities in the interest of numerous stakeholders. 
  • Working knowledge of life cycle cost analysis, lean six sigma principles, and spare parts strategy.
  • Strong technical knowledge of gas distribution and transmission systems, Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities, and associated regulatory requirements, and codes.
  • A drive for results through effective planning, alignment, execution, and customer experience to develop, refine and maintain the Operations and Maintenance programs. 
  • Relies on accountability, strong judgement, a problem-solving mindset and industry awareness to make optimal decisions while leading teams to success.
