Position Overview

Are you an SAP Materials Management expert who thrives on solving complex business challenges and driving continuous improvement? Join our team and play a pivotal role in optimizing supply chain operations by providing technical leadership across Purchasing, Inventory Management, Material Requirements Planning, and External Service Management. In this dynamic role, you'll partner with business leaders and end users to design, enhance, and support SAP MM solutions that improve efficiency, strengthen system integrity, and deliver measurable business value. From leading system enhancements and resolving complex technical issues to developing training programs and guiding organizational change, you'll have the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide processes while working with cutting-edge SAP technologies.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform Corrective Maintenance, Release Management, and Enhancement Management. 
  • Implement new functionality, system processes and updates on current systems including gathering business requirements, analysis of needs and system functionality, design and configuration of system, development of procedures and training.
  • Give directions and provide supervision to external consultants.
  • Support interdependencies and relationships between internal business units.
  • Provide the Process Managers and/or end-users with advice on system or business process changes. Work with Process Managers to identify problematic processes that need improvement. Develops and recommends solutions to problems identified by users.
  • Work with users to quickly and effectively implement solutions.  Ensure solutions are thoroughly tested and documented before moving to production.
  • Train end users on the change.
  • Conduct technical research and work with internal and external resources to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Communicate to the Process Managers any constraints such as timing and budget that will impact the scope of the release.  Work with the Process Managers and other Enterprise Applications Support and Delivery (EASD) Functional team members to prioritize activities across all the business units that rely on SAP functionality and to resolve conflicting calls on resources.
  • Provide internal consulting services to operations business units and groups to determine the design details of the enhancement.  Identifies, develops and recommends alternative solutions.
  • Ensure the involvement of Process Managers and key users in the development of the solution.
  • Implement the changes required to the SAP system (configuration, forms, reports) or to the business processes to support the approved enhancements.
  • Perform the appropriate unit, integration and regression tests to ensure the new functionality works as planned and that existing processes that may be affected continue to work as before.
  • Work with new implementation projects to seamlessly integrate the new functionality into the existing design of processes, business rules and configuration.
  • Communicate with Process Managers, User Groups, Coaches and key users regarding the work plans of the ERP Team, progress, issues and information regarding planned and potential new functionality.
  • Develop the knowledge and skill set of Process Owners and key users by providing knowledge transfer and training:
    • Work with Process Managers to address requirements for end-user training, such as training design, training material and course content.
    • Provide the material, structure and resources for on-going training and support. Where possible, recruit coaches and key users in providing training and updating documentation.
    • Deliver training in one-on-one or classroom settings.

What it takes:

  • Completion of a university degree (supply chain management or business management) or a diploma in technology with 3-5 years of relevant experience in SAP. 
  • Practical knowledge and experience in Purchasing, Inventory Management and MM Reporting and variance reviews, particularly in an environment with regulatory reporting. 
  • Thorough knowledge of the supply chain business processes.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse processes of good receipts/issues and physical inventory counts.
  • Knowledge of undertaking small to large business analysis and/or system design projects. 
  • Knowledge and configuration experience in MM (Purchasing, Inventory Management, Info Records, Logistics Invoice Verification, External Service Management, and Classification).
  • Experience working in a sustainment role.
  • Experience with integration between Materials Management (MM) and other SAP Modules.
  • Experience with interfacing between SAP and other systems.
  • Self-motivated, analytical, and detail oriented.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
