Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, LNG Commercial & Capital Development, the Project Director will provide strategic oversight and executive level decision-making to ensure the project achieves its safety, schedule, budget, regulatory, and performance objectives in the effective execution of the Tilbury LNG Storage Expansion (TLSE) Project.

The TLSE Project is an expansion of LNG storage capacity at the Tilbury LNG facility to meet growing demand, enhance system reliability, and support the transition to lower-carbon energy solutions across British Columbia.

TLSE is part of the broader Tilbury Program, a multi-phase portfolio of infrastructure projects designed to strengthen FortisBC’s LNG production, storage, and distribution capabilities. Together, these projects play a critical role in enabling energy resilience for communities, supporting industrial growth, and advancing the province’s climate and energy objectives.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of the TLSE project, from design through construction and commissioning, ensuring alignment with the broader Tilbury Program strategy.
  • Provide visible, enterprise-level leadership to integrated teams of project managers, engineers, contractors, and partners to deliver critical LNG infrastructure.
  • Shape and execute project delivery and contracting strategies to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, embedding health, safety, and environmental leadership into all aspects of project execution.
  • Oversee all project controls, including cost management, forecasting, scheduling, and performance reporting, to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Anticipate and manage risks and complex challenges through proactive mitigation strategies and decisive leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, regulators, Indigenous communities, and external partners to support successful delivery.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic insights and reporting to senior leadership, influencing key decisions that shape the success of the Tilbury Program.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • P.Eng designation with EGBC (or eligibility in BC) is preferred.
  • 20 years of experience delivering large-scale, complex capital projects, ideally within LNG, energy infrastructure, or related industries.
  • Proven experience leading projects valued from $50M to multi-hundred million dollars.
  • PMP designation or equivalent project management training.
  • Deep expertise in project execution, project controls, contracting strategies, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams and deliver results in complex stakeholder environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement experience, including navigating regulatory frameworks and community and Indigenous relationships.
  • A proven safety leader, with a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to connect project outcomes to broader organizational and program-level objectives.
