Position Overview

Safety is always a top priority for you, and you go out of your way to ensure the well-being and safety of those around you. You lead by example and leverage your exceptional communication skills to build effective partnerships that help reinforce the safety values you champion. With your skills and passion, you’d be a great fit as our Program Manager, Public Safety. 

 

Joining our External Communications department, you’ll develop, execute, maintain, and evaluate our public safety portfolio. You’ll provide guidance on how to deliver public safety initiatives to our target audiences and explore new ways to expand our reach. 


You know how to navigate a regulatory environment, and you have a background in developing programs and initiatives in this space. Your exceptional public speaking skills help you share our public safety programs with an audience confidently, and you openly engage partners to ensure our safety initiatives includes diverse perspectives. 

In year 1, you will:

  • Develop a solid understanding of our existing Public Safety portfolio.  
  • Establish partnerships with internal departments and external stakeholders to support safety programs. 
  • Actively participate in and provide direction during strategic planning sessions for Public Safety and key stakeholder groups to align on high-risk damage and incident procedures.

In year 2, you will:

  • Lead the implementation of the Public Safety strategic plan.
  • Develop upon established internal and external partnerships to support the amplification of key public safety programs. 
  • Collaborate with our Damage Prevention and Emergency Services group on an incident reduction strategy and programs to reduce damages to our infrastructure. 

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, OHS, Public Safety, Business or related field with demonstrated knowledge in the field of public awareness and damage prevention, plus a minimum of five (5) of related experience.
  • A high level of knowledge and experience in Public Safety management and damage prevention in British Columbia or Canada. 
  • Proven collaboration skills to engage partners and incorporate others in your work.
  • Exceptional time-management skills and an ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in program development and evaluation. 

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
