Position Overview

Working in accordance to the organization’s strategic vision, core values and leadership competencies, reporting to the Manager, Operations Excellence & Analytics, this position is responsible for shaping and executing operational performance management, driving informed strategic and business decisions, and providing input into Operations integrated resource planning.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop and implement best practices for driving operational performance outcomes. Manage operations data and reporting development, as well as analyzing, trending, forecasting and tracking business performance in support of overall business intelligence.
  • Lead the use of business intelligence drawn from large data to allow the organization to make key strategic decisions or to validate business opportunities/risks. Responsible for informing management and Executive leadership team of business performance.
  • Lead the training, mentoring and coaching of Supervisors, Managers and Senior Leaders on the use of data analytics to achieve performance outcomes. Develop, deliver and support training and presentations for middle and front line leadership in the management of business metrics and intelligence.  Create innovative data models and solutions that form the foundation for quickly identifying progress towards a goal, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead, manage, implement and provide expertise and oversight of business performance related projects including data management, models, programs, measures, reports, studies, surveys, and metric evaluation.  Perform complex data analysis and couple it with deep business understanding to provide concise and intuitive insights and visibility of progress towards strategic outcomes.
  • Evaluate projects, reports, and reporting methodologies to ensure that they align with organizational strategic goals. Monitor performance against benefit/cost analysis and milestones. Investigate reporting improvement opportunities and make recommendations for increased business effectiveness.
  • Take proactive actions and steps to identify areas of operational opportunity and risk to ensure organizational focus is directed to the most impactful performance areas to drive understanding and effective action.
  • Build effective relationships and networks that extend throughout the company and industry to ensure effective cross-organizational initiatives achieve informed action and sustainable results.
     

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in science, economics, finance, business, engineering, or technology, or a relevant field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • A minimum of eight years directly related, or relevant work experience.
  • Ability to maintain a strict adherence to data privacy and confidentiality of regulations and company policies. 
  • Proficiency with various software applications required to support operations and engineering activities (GIS, SAP/PM, SAP/OF, SAP/HR, Café, DCRS, Business Warehouse, PowerBI, and SQL).
  • Excellent organizational skills to oversee operational performance while leading a team of subject matter experts.
