Position Overview

You're an employee and labour relations guru, and you understand how to curate a workforce primed for success in the present and modeled for the future of work. You're a strategic and tactical mastermind who can plot out a clear path to your targets while navigating corporate, legal and employment obligations. Your expertise and abilities would be an excellent match for our Manager, Workforce Development role.

Collaborating with peers is your strong suit, and you understand the importance of working closely with internal and external partners to craft strategies that are tailored to the needs of all parties involved. You lead with confidence and can execute strategies with precision while staying nimble to adjust to moving pieces along the way.

We've solidified our commitment to sustainability with our 30BY30 promise to reduce our customers' emissions by 30 per cent by the year 2030. We need collaborators, innovators and leaders like yourself to help us achieve our goal and join us in rethinking our energy future.

In year 1, you will:

  • Develop a workforce strategy that integrates with the socio-economic initiatives and delivers on Major Projects workforce needs.
  • Act as a Human Resources (HR) subject matter expert in discussions with Major Projects management.
  • Gain an understanding of contracts and budgets and create an integrated workforce plan scalable for current and future major projects.

In year 2, you will:

  • Implement workforce strategies with our HR department to fulfill our contractual agreements.
  • Build plans in partnerships with external educational institutions, unions and trade associations.

What it takes:

  • A degree in HR, commerce, business or a related field, plus more than eight years of HR, labour relations, workforce development or legal experience in a unionized environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills to build trusted partnerships with key internal leaders, unions, educational institutions, trades associations and others.
  • Excellent creative thinking and problem solving skills to find innovative solutions in a new area of development that aligns with broader corporate objectives.
  • A proven track record of project management experience, including developing projects and tactful execution from start to finish.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills for addressing a variety of audiences.
