Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Legal Services and Senior Counsel, this role will provide legal research and drafting support to the Legal Department.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a law student to provide research and drafting support to the Legal Department for a four-month term commencing in May 2025. 


The selected candidate will work with and be supervised by FortisBC’s in-house lawyers in researching various legal issues, preparing memoranda, reviewing contracts and as opportunities arise, working directly with FortisBC’s business units to provide legal support.    


The position will afford the selected candidate exposure to the Legal Department’s varied and interesting practice that includes work in regulatory, lands, commercial, energy, construction, marketing and consumer practices, privacy, environmental, and occupational health and safety law. 

Requirements

  • Law Student currently enrolled in second or third year at a Canadian Law School.
  • Strong research skills and experience with legal research tools such as CanLII and Westlaw.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
