Independent Contractor - Project Manager, Tunnel

Position Overview

We’re looking for an independent contractor to join our Eagle Mountain – Woodfibre Gas Pipeline (EGP) project team and help us supply safe and reliable natural gas to our customers in Squamish. 

 

We need your expertise to take on the role of Project Manager, Tunnel, responsible for the leadership and management of the EGP tunnel, including engineering design, regulatory and permitting, procurement, construction planning and execution and commissioning. The EGP Project is currently in its planning phase with a projected in-service date of Fall 2025.

 

Your impactful leadership qualities will shine as you lead construction and engineering teams and engage with internal and external stakeholders. Being a master of strategy and coordination will ensure your management of project scope, costs, schedules, risks, quality and communication are all on point. 

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the scope, schedule, budget, and risks associated with the tunnel.  
  • Oversee all technical aspects of the tunnel by leading the Project Engineer, the Tunnel Owner's Engineering team, and working alongside the EGP Project Engineering Lead. 
  • Lead the Construction Management Team to take care of all construction planning and execution, including facilitating and coordinating the work at the BC Rail site and the Woodfibre LNG site.  
  • Manage the procurement process in order to select a Design Build Contractor for the tunnel.
  • Support the development and implemention of the EGP Project permitting plan.

What it takes:

  • Professional Engineer designation or comparable education and experience.
  • 15 years of experience in planning and executing complex tunneling projects, with demonstrated progression of increased levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills managing multiple resources to support project execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interface with key project stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and attention-to-detail to ensure projects are completed safely, within scope, on time and on budget.
