Position Overview

Working in accordance with the organization’s strategic vision, core values and leadership competencies, reporting to the Manager, IS Applications - Technical, this position is responsible to provide technical leadership in the development and maintenance of the enterprise applications including strategic technical development planning in an integrated environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in the effective provision of technical development and maintenance of enterprise applications support and strategic development planning including annual IT planning of projects with regard to technical feasibility and/or limitations within Enterprise Applications environment and working closely with IT Enterprise Application Managers to provide guidance and strategy for future technology planning.
  • Provide leadership to staff using effective management techniques; collaborate with Human Resources, participate in recruiting activities, make hiring decisions, set performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews. Ensure staff is effectively trained; provide guidance and direction, investigate issues and facilitate problem resolution. Assign and coordinate work to team members, track project deliverables, facilitate weekly status meetings and provide regular updates.
  • Identify and prioritize technical development issues within the development team for resolution.   Ensure consistency in approaches to development, implementation and documentation. Effectively resolve complex technical development and maintenance issues and ensure appropriate resources are assigned.  
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with third party vendors to establish technical roadmaps for future initiatives and business requirements based on business drivers.
  • Select, engage and manage external consultants; ensure objectives are defined in contract terms and monitor progress to ensure objectives are met. 
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from a recognized program plus 8 to 12 years IT experience in a Technical Development/Leadership capacity with a minimum of 5 years’ experience with SAP product or other applications or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years in a lead role or management position. 
  • Knowledge of the Utility business, business units and processes
  • Knowledge of the IT governance and operations
  • Knowledge of Management strategies and technologies such as business intelligence, collaboration and enterprise content management
  • Knowledge of technical integration and development 
  • Knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles & methodology
  • Knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology
  • Knowledge of configuration of software applications on premise and in the Cloud
  • Knowledge of business and architectural roadmaps  
  • Knowledge of large integrated corporate business systems from a functional or technical standpoint  
  • Knowledge of collaboration products, services and tools
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence products, services and tools
  • Systems thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking)
