Engineering Record Analyst

Responsibilities

  • Performs a detailed review of engineering drawings included but not limited to civil, structural, mechanical, piping, architectural, instrumentational and electrical engineering requirements of gas transmission, plant and other engineering projects. 
  • Analyzes project drawings to ensure they meet the required technical and quality management requirements set out in industry standards and internal CRL policies and standards.
  • Coordinates and directs engineers and drafters based on requirements of record drawings.
  • Acts as gatekeeper for project drawings produced by internal resources and external contractors to ensure all drawings meet all minimum quality standards required.
  • Tracks progress and reviews project closure requests making sure Asset Drawing List [ADL] and Project Drawing List [PDL] are accurate and properly populated.  Return to requestor with all corrections needed. 
  • Reviews and sets metadata on newly imported drawings into Filenet to support the current drawing search and the Asset Drawing List in Filenet.
  • Collects the drawings Metadata, uploads engineering drawings to FileNet and verifies the proper transfer of these drawings in accordance with internal drawings management and records policies and procedures.
  • Reviews drawings prepared by other drafters, departments, manufacturers, contractors and consultants to ensure accuracy and compatibility of dimensions, details and adherence to standards and design parameters.
  • Provides guidance to customers, clients and other drafters and planners regarding layout of drawings and the application of engineering and engineering drafting standards and procedures.
  • Provides technical direction based on internal standards to drafters, technologist and engineers engaged in drafting related duties.
  • Develops training materials and procedures related to engineering drafting and quality management to be utilized by internal engineering drafters and external contractors
  • Operates a computer-assisted drafting work station and assists in developing methods and standards to promote its efficient use; develops system procedures and standards, implements system improvements, participates in testing procedures, evaluates and reports on system capabilities. 
  • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties, which do not affect the rating of the job.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary technologist certificate program in an appropriate drafting program to the relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Certified or eligible for certification, at the technologist level, by the Applied Sciences Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia.
  • Five years recent, related experience.
  • Knowledge of computer systems operations, environment and peripherals.
  • Working knowledge of the use of CAD/CAM technology (Micro station preferable and knowledge of additional data processing and engineering software such as AUTOCAD).
  • Working knowledge of the use of FileNet, Excel (including macros), Adobe Acrobat, Blue Beam and Visual Basic.
  • Sound knowledge of systems operations and construction and maintenance processes and procedures including Project Closure Process and related CRLs.
  • Courteous, professional manner in dealing with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure during peak workload situations.
  • Sound analytical and decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret data from a variety of sources.
  • Sound oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Intermediate level keyboarding skills, including the ability to format correspondence, reports and charts.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.
