Position Overview

The assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.

In this role, you will:

The work will consist of various project related assignments to the design and operation of the gas system, such as:

  • Design of natural gas facilities and pipelines including stress analysis and equipment sizing and selection
  • Engage various internal and external stakeholders and team members in completion of capital projects
  • Perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure
  • Research and develop design standards
  • Recommend process improvements and ensure compliance to company and industry codes and standards

What it takes:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program with a Mechanical focus recommended- Third or Fourth year preferred
  • Enrolled in a Co-op program
  • Valid driver’s license and current abstract

Other Qualifications

  • A passion for the energy industry and the utility world
  • Experience or knowledge with CAD applications
  • Experience with interpreting mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems
  • A knack for public speaking
  • You get your points and messages across with ease and respect so you can work harmoniously with a variety of people
  • Know the ins and outs of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment

Additional Information

  • This is a 4 or 8 month co-op term starting in January 2025.
