Position Overview

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the management and oversight of all the technologies and strategies for data reporting systems, for the Energy Solutions Department.  This position is pivotal in bridging information from internal systems to essential stakeholders to support strategic and financial decision making for Energy Products and Services. We need an expert with your skill set to join as our Energy Product and Services Specialist.

In this role, you will:

  • Understand the Energy Solutions department, how we create value for customers, and ongoing initiatives.
  • Manage the planning, design, development, testing, and ongoing operation of critical Business Intelligence reporting for the Energy Products and Services group.
  • Develop the desired outcomes for all such reporting systems by leading discussions with various stakeholders, and determining the data requirements and flows, develop the process maps, the business rules, and data visualizations or reports required to allow effective decision making for various business units.
  • Continually evolve and articulate a clear vision of the future evolution of these tools and methodologies as the organizational needs change. 
  • Utilize the results of various analyses to prepare reports and presentations that identify relevant implications for strategic planning purposes; deliver presentations that include a review and assessment of relevant results and facilitate recommendations. 
  • Perform scheduled and ad-hoc analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with various internal and external partners or stakeholders. 
  • Engage in regulatory filings and respond to BCUC and intervenor inquiries.

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, business analytics or related discipline from an accredited institution plus a minimum of four (4) years of related experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for developing project plans and seeking approval from senior leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to engage with multiple parties, establish priorities, and drive project completion.
  • Superior analytical skills to understand existing programs, identify improvement opportunities, and innovate for future implementation.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and take measured risks, and to move forward despite ambiguity.
  • Understanding of multiple reporting and data manipulation software tools including Excel, DAX formula language, and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of and experience with business statistics and experience using statistical software (SAS, SQL Server or MS Access). Skills and experience in business analysis, financial evaluation methods, and project management.
  • Strong general computer skills (MS Office Suite, SAP) including advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Knowledge of Energy Products and Services and Utility regulatory principles and energy markets would be an asset.
  • SharePoint training would be an asset.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
