Position Overview

Join us as a Director of Regulatory. Reporting to the Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, you’ll be responsible for providing direction, leadership, and execution of regulatory affairs for FortisBC’s gas and electric utilities.

In year 1, you will:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of previous, ongoing, and planned regulatory filings with the British Columbia Utilities Commissions (BCUC), as well as current rate setting frameworks. 
  • Create strong relationships and build a network with key leaders across the organization, including finance, operations, energy supply, customer service, government relations, legal. 
  • Progress your understanding of BC’s energy policy environment and FortisBC’s regulatory initiatives, the electricity, gas and renewable gas markets and FortisBC’s business priorities today and for the future. 

In year 2, you will:

  • Lead a number of filings before the BCUC, including major capital projects (CPCNs), annual reviews for 2024 rates, and a rate setting framework for future years.
  • Develop regulatory constructs that support FortisBC in the energy transition. 
  • Provide ongoing regulatory guidance to business leaders with a focus on customer impacts. 


  • A professional accounting designation or bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or business administration plus 15 or more years’ recent, related experience in a senior leadership capacity within a regulatory environment (preferably gas or electric distribution) or an equivalent combination or education, training and experience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the organization as a credible spokesperson and witness in public forums.   
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written material, such as executive reports, applications and information response requests for submission to regulatory bodies. 
  • A results-oriented individual with exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Effective leadership, decision making and communication skills.
