Position Overview
You're someone who is passionate about supporting Indigenous communities across B.C. while improving energy efficiency measures. Your ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining a keen eye for detail when processing applications or looking for business development opportunities enables you to drive program participation forward.
As a program specialist with Indigenous communities, you'll lead the development, implementation, and ongoing administration of our Conservation and Energy Management (C&EM) programs and offers for Indigenous and First Nations communities. Reporting to the program manager, Indigenous communities, this position focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships and collaboration with Indigenous and First Nations communities to increase participation in C&EM programs and applications for financial support and rebates.

In this role, you will:
- Promote and increase participation and awareness of Indigenous C&EM programs and offers. Build and sustain strong, open, and trusting relationships with Indigenous and First Nations communities.
- Record and monitor participation in programs and projects through effective relationship and project management techniques.
- Prepare business cases for new programs and projects or modifications to existing ones. You will be able to justify your recommendations through cost-effectiveness analysis.
- Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to assist in the promotion of C&EM programs to customers, contractors, and vendors.
- Determine appropriate technologies and program eligibility guidelines that maximize participation and natural gas savings while minimizing costs. Additionally, you will develop program applications, terms and conditions, and any other contractual documents in collaboration with legal services.
What it takes:
- A diploma in business, Indigenous studies, or a related discipline from an accredited university, plus a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related experience in business or program development.
- Experience or knowledge in home renovations, home construction, or related disciplines from the building industry is considered an asset.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills to engage with stakeholders across the business as you provide program support and recommendations.
- A strong understanding of, and experience working with Indigenous and First Nations communities in a relationship management capacity.
Additional Information
- This position will require some travel away from the base office to within the geographic area of coverage.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
