In this role, you will:
- Provide compensation advice and analytical support to leaders, Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partners, grounded in FortisBC’s Total Rewards philosophy.
- Apply advanced knowledge of job evaluation methodologies, organizational design principles, and market-based pay practices to thoroughly assess new job requirements, analyze compensation data, and develop precise job descriptions that reflect both market trends and internal standards.
- Lead job evaluation projects by coordinating with cross-functional teams, ensuring the creation of compliant job descriptions, and facilitating organizational design discussions that strategically align roles with FortisBC’s business objectives.
- Conduct complex compensation analyses and market comparisons, including financial modeling and cost‑impact assessments of program recommendations.
- Administer annual salary review and short‑term incentive (STIP) programs; serve as the subject‑matter expert for compensation programs and processes.
- Participate in compensation surveys and stay current on industry trends and best practices through research and networking.
- Prepare quarterly/ad‑hoc compensation and STIP reports; support quarterly board reporting and scorecard results.
- Recommend process improvements and inter‑departmental efficiencies; contribute to salary administration guidelines, policies and audit/compliance documentation.
- Investigate pay issues and collaborate with Payroll, HRIS and Labour Relations to resolve them; contribute to broader HR/Compensation projects as assigned.
What it takes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources from a recognized program, plus a minimum of four (4) years of recent, related compensation experience (including job evaluation/classification).
- CPHR designation (preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of compensation administration, market‑based pay, and job design, principles; sound judgement handling confidential/sensitive information.
- Strong facilitation, negotiation and stakeholder‑influencing skills; proven problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis/modeling; proficiency with MS Office; experience working with SAP and supporting data analysis tools.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities within tight timelines; effective teamwork and relationship‑building skills.
- Working knowledge of employment legislation, regulatory requirements and interpretation of labour agreements.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive, and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
