If so, we want to hear from you! Join us as the Community Relations Manager and you’ll be part of the Communications and Indigenous Relations team supporting the Tilbury LNG Expansion Project.

 

Together, the Indigenous Relations, Community Relations and Communications teams work to develop integrated strategies that are pivotal to the success of FortisBC’s Major Projects.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop strategic, stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement strategies to minimize impacts to the public.
  • Brief senior management on issues and provide recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community stakeholders and elected officials.
  • Manage the stakeholder engagement budget and respond to/address questions and concerns from community members.
  • Set any project up for success by developing strategic plans that solicit input from community stakeholders.
  • Work towards obtaining necessary project approvals.
  • Inspire changes to the project (where necessary and practical) based on feedback received from the public.
  • Solidify yourself as the trusted face of the project in the community so that you can effectively listen to and respond to public concerns.

What it takes:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communications or other related discipline, from a recognized program.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated success in the field of community relations.
  • Ability to manage issue related conflicts and issue resolution capacity (negotiation skills).
  • Ability to meet firm deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Project management expertise and balancing competing priorities.
  • Comfortable delivering presentations and navigating challenging conversations.
  • Ability to assert interests with competing perspectives.
  • Exceptional organizational skills - manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and professional judgment skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a panache for team-building.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships representatives from levels of government.
  • Demonstrated Indigenous Peoples cultural and business awareness, with the ability to collaborate effectively with community leaders to build lasting relationships.

Additional Information

  • This position will require evening and weekend work and travel away from the base office to attend meetings and deliver presentations etc. within the geographic area of coverage for both the electric and gas operations.
     

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
