We’re looking for new talent to join us as we reinvent the future of energy. Across BC, we have a diverse team of more than 2,500 employees we can’t do without, yet we’re growing as fast as ever.

You may think we’re your standard utility that delivers natural gas and electricity, but we’re also into cool, innovative energy solutions. Think carbon capture, renewable energies and lower-carbon transportation for a start. We believe in creating a cleaner, healthier tomorrow.

If you like meaningful work, a dynamic environment and forward-thinking colleagues, build your career with us. You’ll get opportunities to grow, lead, solve, and create. So what are you waiting for? Let’s rethink energy together.

In this role, you will:

You’re committed to leading a more sustainable future, and you’ve got the strategic and public policy know-how to shape what’s possible in the energy sector. With your top-notch collaboration skills, you know how to bridge the gap between corporate sustainability goals and local and provincial government climate goals to develop holistic strategies that move everyone towards a greener energy future. With your expertise, you’d be a great fit as our Program Manager, Climate Action Partners.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting the integration, delivery and management of our climate partnership and reporting activities, which includes strategy development, annual reporting obligations, and program implementation. You’ll also foster relationships across our business to explore opportunities to further embed a climate action focus into our business practices and initiatives.

Your charisma and communications skills will help you promote balanced energy discussions on the future of energy for local governments and engage internal departments with innovative ideas for more sustainable practices. You understand the fluid nature of the policy environment and have a proven track record of adapting your strategies and being flexible in your approach to ensure the successful delivery of your programs.

We're committed to building a greener future with our 30BY30 promise to reduce our customer's emissions by 30 per cent by the year 2030. We need collaborators, innovators and leaders like yourself to help us achieve our goal, and join us in rethinking our energy future to 2030 and beyond.

In year 1, you will:

  • Assist in executing policies, plans and programs that help us reach our climate goals in 2030 and 2050.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the practical implications of energy and climate policy at the local, provincial and federal levels of government.
  • Educate stakeholders on the challenges and opportunities of energy decarbonization in B.C. and our role in B.C.’s clean energy economy.
  • Collaborate on designing strategic priorities for climate action outreach and engagement.

In year 2, you will:

  • Provide leadership in the effective execution of policy-related climate outreach and engagement activities to drive value through rate base growth and revenues, and mitigate risk related to climate policy decisions.
  • Engage with our executives, directors, senior managers, consultants and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication across business units.
  • Lead and collaborate with various departments to ensure business planning reports, regulatory filings and other requirements are met.
  • Support relevant regulatory processes by assisting with preparing and submitting regulatory applications and responding to information requests.

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs, Business, Communications or a related field, while a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Five to 10 years of related and recent experience in the energy industry is required and knowledge of greenhouse gas quantification principles and methodologies is preferred.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships and liaise with various business units, external stakeholders and partners.
  • Proven strategic-thinking skills to come up with creative solutions that meet our partners’ goals.
  • Adaptability and flexibility for working in a dynamic, ever-changing work environment and managing ambiguity in the policy arena.
