Position Overview

Join the FortisBC family and be part of our Business System Planning team.


As our Business Systems Solution Specialist, you will put your analytical and process-oriented mind to work. You will define processes and systems with out business units. You will create business roadmaps while shaping Information Systems (IS) requirements to suggest the best processes and solutions to our business units. 

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with business units to define or support new business processes and functions for systems
  • Translate requirements to solutions; identify strengths and weaknesses and suggest areas of improvement for technology and process
  • Gather business requirements – workshops, interviews, analysis, etc.
  • Support business units in delivery of business requirements, business cases and project requests
  • Conduct research; gain knowledge of best practices; support the business with recommendations, guidance and advice around feasibility to support selection/purchase of new solutions

In year 1, you will:

  • Gain understanding of our processes, principles and methodology
  • Gain knowledge in strategic priorities to support the business
  • Deliver business requirements, business cases, as well as facilitate workshops for multiple projects
  • Establish good working relationships within the IS department and other business units

What it takes:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, as well as presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret business requirements – translate business to technical and vice versa
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams to support the business units
  • Ability to produce deliverables on multiple projects concurrently
  • Expertise and knowledge of best practices around principles and methodology
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems or equivalent and six (6) years of relevant experience OR a diploma in Computer Systems Technology or equivalent and eight (8) years of relevant experience
