Position Overview

The Install Supervisor, AMI is responsible for ensuring gas meter exchange work meets FortisBC’s quality requirements and reporting on the safe, efficient and productive delivery of the meter exchange activities during the gas Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project. The successful candidate will support the Company and ensure that safety, operability and system integrity is not compromised. The Install Supervisor, AMI will also ensure appropriate management, customer and stakeholder involvement throughout the life of the AMI project.

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure quality and safety of all aspects of the AMI deployment work conducted by the deployment contractors.  
  • Ensure health and safety performance on the AMI project.  Coordinate project teams compromised of representatives from internal and external stakeholder groups, internal and external resources as required.  Executes the project scope and priorities with the cross functional project team.
  • Provide oversight and maintain compliance with work and industry standards, execution and monitoring of the contractors.  
  • Provide communication to internal and external stakeholders on field, measurement and technical knowledge of AMI metering.
  • Responsible to accurately prepare, document, report and maintain evidence for internal review, compliance audits, self-certifications or spot checks. 
  • Supports the AMI project team with reporting requirements by providing Quality, Schedule and Cost (QSC) reports as directed by the Install Manager, E.g. weekly/monthly and/or Quarterly reports to FortisBC management.
  • Analyzes and communicates risks, establishes contingency plans for the project.  Manages change control for projects.  Provides tracking and reporting progress to plan to the Project Manager. Analyzes performance to plan and makes recommendations for adjustments consistent with project objectives.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders (i.e. Technical Safety BC), customers, contractors, municipal agencies, and emergency response.  Manages relationships with projects stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress and issues.  Contributes and collaborates with the AMI project team. 
  • Customer communications, including fielding complaints, raising safety and technical issues that may require immediate resolve.
  • Manages and communicates a clear vision of the project’s objectives and motivates the project team to achieve them.  Travel to work sites to provide quality oversight and maintain compliance with work and industry standards, applicable metrics, and service level agreements.  Utilize field experience and technical knowledge to solve work related problems and/or collaborate and refer to others.
  • Assists in the administration of contracts.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or Diploma of Technology in a related discipline from a recognized program, Certified Member in the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC or a Professional equivalent, plus 4 to 7 years related field experience in a leadership capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Gas Fitters ticket from Technical Safety BC.
  • Quality Assurance, auditing, and inspection experience is highly desirable.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers licence.
  • Knowledgeable in FortisBC safe work practices and procedures.
  • Skilled in handling confidential information with professional judgment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective at establishing and maintaining working relationships.
  • Proficient in reporting terminology and concepts.
  • Leadership skills with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of audit processes and principles.

Additional Information

  • Flexibility on work location within one of FortisBC's headquarters (i.e. Kelowna, Surrey)
  • Travel throughout the FortisBC service territory may be required.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
