Position Overview
You’re an expert in land acquisition in BC and know how to leverage your experience to bring together corporate objectives for effectively managing utility infrastructure. Your interpersonal skills enable you to tactfully and respectfully negotiate agreements that support a strategic vision and continue to set-up your team for success. We need your expertise and unique skillset in our Land Agent role.
As a Land Agent, you’ll be responsible for the acquisition of land rights to support new and existing FortisBC Electric distribution, transmission and generation infrastructure as well as maintaining existing tenures.
In this role, you will:
- Facilitate and act as the primary contact for the land acquisition component of the new connects process, as assigned.
- Provide support and guidance to a variety of stakeholders to improve project outcomes.
- Manage the lands acquisition component of capital plan projects, as assigned.
What it takes:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or real estate from a recognized program, plus one to three years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of BC laws and regulations related to real estate.
- Knowledge of valuation techniques, particularly as they relate to real estate, Statutory Rights of Way (SRW) agreements, survey plans and other real estate related documentation.
- Excellent decision-making skills to apply superior judgment, strategic and innovative thinking.
- Great interpersonal skills to negotiate solutions, effectively persuade, develop agreements, reach resolutions, and building respectful working relationships.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
