Position Overview

You’re a skilled leader well-versed in accounting and financial reporting. While you possess technical expertise related to data processing applications with analytical abilities that are second to none, you’re a team player who’s quick to provide support to ensure the highest level of service, accuracy and quality in all you do. 

 

As the Financial Accounting Supervisor, you’ll ensure financial accounting transactions and related activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations, are recorded correctly and functioning in accordance with standard accounting principles and Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the accounting department to ensure operational efficiency while focusing on areas of improvement through process review, automation or new technologies.
  • Maintain a high quality of work from your employees by providing leadership, guidance and development opportunities.
  • Support various business areas to ensure they receive appropriate finance support by responding to requests promptly, assisting with statutory filings, maintaining open lines of communication, and knowledge sharing. 

What it takes:

  • A degree in business and commerce with a recognized accounting designation.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Strong technical skills working within a large enterprise resource planning solution, preferably in the SAP environment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and work with various groups.
  • Previous experience supervising and providing guidance to a team is an asset.     

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
