Position Overview
You’re ready to take on the challenge of working on our AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Project where you will be part of a team building a more reliable natural gas system for our more than one million customers across British Columbia? The Gas AMI Project represents one of the largest Major Projects in FortisBC’s history as we upgrade all our gas meters to implement automated technologies that will improve the safety, resiliency, sustainability, and reliability of our natural gas system.
Elevate your career with FortisBC as a Contracts Supervisor, Meter Deployment on the AMI project! Reporting to the Contracts Manager, Meter Deployment AMI, this long-term temporary role will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of contracts related to the project across our service territory. This dynamic position demands leadership, technical excellence, and a proactive attitude.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the implementation of contracts showcasing technical prowess in Procurement and Contracts Management.
- Foster effective relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors, ensuring seamless collaboration.
- Manage the relationship with meter deployment contractors, supporting adherence to project plan requirements and ensuring compliance with corporate policies, industry standards, and agreements.
- Ensure timely delivery of contractual milestones, conducting progress reviews, managing contract changes, and addressing risks or issues.
- Coordinate with logistics and procurement teams, overseeing material inventory for meter deployment.
- Execute contractor safety and quality assurance programs, providing constructive feedback and utilizing FortisBC's risk management system.
What it takes:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline, with a minimum of four (4) years of recent experience in contract or project management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation desired.
- Experience in major projects and project delivery models is an asset.
- Proficiency in contract and procurement work methods.
- Effective project/program management and cost control skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on efficiency.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of SAP, MS Office systems, Logistics, and Transportation Management.
- Proactive, self-starter with the ability to lead independently.
- Excellent verbal, electronic, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and apply conflict resolution skills.
Additional Information
- Some travel throughout the FortisBC service territory may be required.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
