Position Overview

You’re technical by nature and thrive on using your analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve any task. You are knowledgeable about transmission, distribution and substation engineering as well as general engineering principles. With effective communications skills and the ability to work well with others, you are a great fit in our Civil Engineer's role.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading and participating in civil and structural analysis and design reviews on assigned capital projects, including the development and review of transmission, distribution and station-related standards. You’ll also provide project engineering oversight and own the responsibility for engineering schedules and quality assurance on the assigned civil portion of capital projects.

In year 1, you will:

  • Familiarize yourself with our standards, guidelines and practices. 
  • Become an expert and confident user of Power Line Systems - Computer-Aided Design and Draft (PLSCADD) and other relevant software.
  • Develop an understanding of the Issue for Construction process from estimation to design completion, construction, and As-builting.
  • Go out in the field and become familiar with PMO and Operations.
  • Oversee civil engineering contractor tasks as an internal design lead for our Transmission, Distribution and Stations groups.

In year 2, you will:

  • Handle all key responsibilities independently with minimal support from the senior engineer.
  • Continue to partner and work with stakeholders to complete tasks on time.

  • This position may be located in Kelowna or Trail, British Columbia. Please indicate your preferred location in the prescreen questions. 

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university plus four to seven years of engineering experience with a professional engineer (P. Eng) designation.
  • Strong knowledge of transmission, distribution, and substation engineering and general engineering principles, design and construction methods.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience using software such as MS Office and MS Project, and design software such as AutoCad or PLSCADD. 
  • An effective communicator with an ability to adapt quickly and problem solve.
  • A curious learner with exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
