Position Overview

Not only do you have years of construction experience under your belt, but your knowledge of natural gas infrastructure is second to none. Safety for yourself and your peers is always your top priority, and all of your operations decisions are focused on safeguarding the well-being of everyone around you. If this sounds like you, you’ll be a great fit as our Operations Supervisor. 
 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible or overseeing 20 unionized Pipelines field employees in the provision of activities to support the distribution, transmission and delivery of energy, safely and reliably, to FortisBC customers and to provide Emergency Response within a designated geographical area and/or facility.

In year 1, you will:

  • Familiarize yourself with the Interior Transmission Systems.
  • Familiarize yourself with the software and applications used to schedule and complete deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Develop your project management skills.
  • Familiarize yourself with multiple ongoing projects.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.                               
  • Champion our safety culture to safeguard against accidents and injuries.

In year 2, you will:

  • Expand your knowledge of resource and administrative budgets. 
  • Expand your knowledge of Project Management.
  • Develop relationships with external stakeholders and municipal contacts.
  • Partner with peers and internal stakeholders in developing strategic initiatives to drive operational excellence.

What it takes:

  • Five years of management and/or project management experience with a focus on natural gas infrastructure. Post secondary diploma considered an asset.
  • Previous experience managing in a Unionized workforce.
  • Previous experience in construction, underground utilities, and emergency response is an asset.
  • A passion for developing quality solutions with a safety-focused mindset.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to strengthening connections in the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite such as Word, Excel, etc.
