Position Overview
The Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry is quickly evolving, and we need energized people just like YOU to bring us to the next level. The LNG Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of our LNG Plant. You will be responsible for operations of a wide variety of equipment such as LNG storage tanks, pumps, and more.
In this role, you will:
- Respond to emergencies and plant process upsets.
- Work with minimum supervision, work effectively as a team member with other employees and contractors, and make decisions as required to achieve and maintain optimum plant operations.
- Make decisions as required to achieve and maintain optimum plant operations.
- Train other LNG Operators as required.
- Perform operating, maintenance and other duties in a safe, efficient and effective manner.
What it takes:
- Preference will be given to candidates who hold their Fourth Class Power Engineer certificate
- Completion of Parts A&B of the Fourth Class Power Engineer will also be considered with completion of the Fourth Class Power Engineer Certificate required within 12 months of obtaining position.
- Experience working in a gas processing plant is an asset but not required
- Completion of Occupational First Aid 1 within 6 months of being hired.
- Evaluate conditions and make decisions to achieve optimum plant operation, particularly under critical circumstances and stressful conditions.
- Ability to work alone.
- Maintain plant equipment and the facility.
- Deep mechanical understanding to ensure the safe operation of the equipment at all times.
- Maintain safe and reliable plant operation by acting as the in-depth knowledge focal point for outside areas of responsibility in regards to equipment criticality rating, specifications, mechanical limits, etc.
- Ability to communicate in both verbal and written form and be capable of maintaining neat, accurate records and detailed logs of plant operation.
- Proven record of demonstrating initiative and a sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations and practices on a sustained basis.
- Prepared to work rotating shifts.
- Good physical condition without a fear of heights and the ability to climb ladders.
- Experience with electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, large reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, commercial refrigeration equipment and multistage pumps.
- Working knowledge and understanding of thermodynamics.
- Deal effectively with process upset/ crisis situations in their area and constructively modify plan to adjust to changing needs and priorities.
- Perform duties of the LNG Operator 3 as required.
- A valid British Columbia Class ‘5’ driver’s license, with a provided driver’s abstract.
Additional Information
- Successful candidates will be hired as an LNG Operator 2.
- Progression from an LNG Operator 2 to a LNG Operator 1 ($51.04 hourly) will be dependent upon demonstrated competence to carry out all aspects of the job (typically 1 year). This will include successful completion of LNG Level 2 Competency Program and a hands-on operating test to demonstrate proficiency.
- All successful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment verification, including, but not limited to, drug testing, physical assessment, reference checks and a criminal record check. Proof of qualifications and a record of a recent driver’s abstract from the last 5 years will be required (BC Class 5 equivalent).
- Must be able to work 7x7 12-hour shifts, alternating days and nights.
- This role may have standby requirements based on operational needs.
- This role may have on-call requirements based on operational need.
- This role may have overtime requirements based on operational needs.
- Must be clean-shaven as per WCB requirements.
