Position Overview

A Relief System Operator (RSO) is a member of the System Control Centre (SCC) Operating team.  The RSO’s primary function is to relieve the System Operator.  The position requires shift work as per established shift schedules.  When not required at the System Control Centre, the incumbent may be assigned to other departments.
 
Relief System Operator reports to a staff supervisor or delegate.

Responsibilities

  • To learn and perform the duties of the System Operator.
  • Perform duties normally carried out by a lower classification employee.

Requirements

  • NERC certification.
  • Diploma in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program.
  • Capable of exercising good judgment, and able to handle the stress of the operating job, especially during emergencies. Able to deal courteously with the public via telephone and work cooperatively with fellow employees.
  • Have the potential, ability and intent to progress to higher classification in the Control Centre.

Additional Information

The salary range, based on the step progression to System Operator, is $49.80 to $62.25 (2022 salary schedule).

 

This role has on-call/standby requirements based on operational needs. 
The successful candidate must adhere to the residency requirements of this position. 
This role has overtime requirements based on operational needs.
