Position Overview


Do you enjoy working with multiple teams to bring projects to completion from beginning to end? Are you a problem-solver with superb organizational skills?
 
Working in accordance with the organization and Generation’s strategic vision, core values and leadership competencies, reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this position is responsible to provide project management services to enable the safe and successful execution of capital projects from conception to completion. You will work with internal and external resources to manage budgets and deadlines and achieve project objectives while challenging business practices to improve processes. 

In this role, you will:

  • Utilize project management expertise to develop, implement, and manage projects within estimated targets
  • Work within budgets and deadlines to deliver projects on time
  • Identify and communicate project status and changes to your stakeholders
  • Co-ordinate and assign resources to meet project objectives
  • Develop schedules, cost estimates, project execution plans, and risk management strategies
  • Manage materials procurement, fabrication, site construction, contract administration, stakeholder communications, permitting, resources, reporting and customer satisfaction
  • Complete project closeout requirements
  • Collaborate and challenge the status quo to improve processes and support continuous improvement
  • Acquire a solid understanding of the Company and Generation business unit internal processes, standards, policies, and project management procedures
  • Put your expertise and knowledge to work on projects
  • Champion and promote the importance of safety
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders
  • Schedule and organize resources appropriately
  • Manage multiple projects and/or programs based on experience and business needs
  • Build on your knowledge gained during the project cycle
  • Manage multiple projects, increasing in complexity, risk and priority
  • Build and manage highly effective teams
  • Continue to build and leverage relationships with stakeholders
  • Identify and champion continuous improvements in how the Project Management Office does business

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline along with 4 – 7 years of relevant practical project management and leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is desired – willingness and ability to obtain designation required.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and execute work on time and on budget
  • Experience in estimating, resourcing, budget development & control, and change order processes
  • Ability to communicate project requirements and details to a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management principles and methodologies
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience with contract processes and contract management
  • Knowledge of Power Generation as well as construction, electrical systems, and mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding work schedules
  • Demonstrated computer/MS Office/MS Project proficiency
