Position Overview

Join our dynamic Power Supply department, where we expertly plan and manage the procurement and delivery of electricity to meet our customers' needs efficiently and cost-effectively. 


Aligned with our organization's strategic vision, core values, and leadership competencies, you'll be at the forefront of developing, implementing, and maintaining the short-term power supply plan, ensuring we meet customer load requirements while adhering to established contractual obligations. In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain the short-term power supply plan to meet customer load cost-effectively, ensuring adherence to protocols and contractual obligations.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on power supply purchases and contract requirements, and participate in performance management.
  • Support the Power Supply Operations Manager in all aspects of Power Supply, including contracts, regulatory, financial, operations, external contacts and new initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders and participate in joint committees and public relations activities to communicate key messages and ensure common understanding of energy supply operations.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of power supply options to identify and implement cost-saving measures for power purchases.
  • Assume responsibility for monthly accounting and reporting tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial protocols.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance from a recognized program
  • 4 years recent, related experience
  • Understanding of Hydro Electric operations, commodity markets fundamentals, and market operations.
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis (forecasting, modeling), with an aptitude for Excel spreadsheets and working with numbers.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical information effectively to various stakeholders, including regulators and executive management.
  • Proficiency in developing and operating economic spreadsheets, database computer models, and using Microsoft Office programs, along with a basic understanding of the regulatory revenue requirement process.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
