Position Overview

You’re technical by nature and thrive on using your analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve any task. You are knowledgeable about generation and water flow control equipment and general engineering principles. With effective communications skills and the ability to work well with others, you are a great fit in our Mechanical Project Engineer's role.

 

In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading and participating in mechanical analysis and design reviews on assigned capital projects, including the development and review of FBC Generation related standards. You’ll also provide project engineering oversight and own the responsibility for engineering schedules and quality assurance on the assigned capital projects.

In year 1, you will:

  • Familiarize yourself with our standards, guidelines and practices. 
  • Become an expert and confident user of relevant software and design systems/tools.
  • Develop an understanding of the Construction Package, Cost Estimate processes from initiation to implementation.

In year 2, you will:

  • Handle all key responsibilities independently with minimal support from the Engineering supervisor.
  • Oversee engineering contractor tasks.
  • Continue to partner and work with stakeholders to complete tasks on time.

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university plus two to five years of engineering experience; a professional engineer (P. Eng) designation is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of generating equipment, lifting and water flow control equipment and general engineering principles, design and construction methods.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience using software such as MS Office and MS Project. 
  • An effective communicator with an ability to adapt quickly and problem solve.
  • A curious learner with exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
