Materials Truck Driver

Responsibilities

  • Loads, unloads, and transports materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Utilizes and operates all material and equipment required in the performance of the job.
  • Takes inventory, fills orders when assigned and performs administrative duties required of the job.
  • Is responsible for good housekeeping, stocking and safekeeping of all materials and equipment in compounds and stores, and on stores trucks.
  • Operates any vehicle which requires up to a Class 3 license with air endorsement.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Class 3 driver's license with air endorsement, Class 1 driver's license is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid crane operator certificate (per Work Safe regulations 0HS14.34.1) and be in compliance with Work Safe regulations (see additional information below).
  • Demonstrated safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations and practices. Driver abstract acceptable to FortisBC standards. Must be able to pass the FortisBC driving test.
  • Ability to work independently and take action on own initiative.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to successfully complete the following training; mobile crane equipment, rigging and slinging, WHMIS/TDG.

Additional Information

  • Preference will be given to candidates with Level A Certification. Candidates with Level B Certification will be considered with the expectation that they will work towards achieving Level A Certification. If no level of crane Certification is available, the successful candidate will be brought in and expected to attain their Level B Certification within 1 month and work towards achieving their Level A Certification within a reasonable period of time.
  • Considerable bending and lifting.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Current WorkSafe regulations require that crane operators must be either fully certified or registered in the certification program. New crane operators must pass an assessment on the theory component of operating a crane as well as a practical assessment that is required for all crane operators.
