As our Occupational and Health Business Partner, you’ll coach and mentor our leadership teams and employees to enhance our safety culture. You’ll be a trusted resource and subject matter expert for all things health and safety-related.

In year 1, you will:

  • Develop an understanding of our business unit structure, organizational values, corporate safety programs and safety management system. 
  • Identify and build relationships with key contractor stakeholders from our company, including Operations and Shared Services, and support the advancement of our safety culture.
  • Evaluate client contractor relationships for compliance with corporate expectations and regulatory requirements Lead business unit-specific baseline audits of contractor safety management practices

In year 2, you will:

  • Project manage programs and initiatives with cross-departmental groups. 
  • Build upon your knowledge of our safety programs to provide subject matter expertise, review and update our safety programs and ensure continued compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Support the development of common tools and resources for the management of contractor relationships to meet business needs and demands. 
  • Support other working groups related to health and safety programs to develop and launch initiatives based on your own experiences and knowledge.
  • Improve the communication strategy of contractor safety management tools and resources among stakeholder groups

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental and occupational health and safety, or related discipline from a recognized accredited program, plus four to seven years of recent, related experience in the environment, occupational health and safety field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A valid B.C. driver’s license is required.
  • Formal qualifications in safety investigations and root cause analysis and a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, or the ability to obtain one, would be an asset.
  • An empathetic and fair mindset when working with clients and stakeholders.
  • A motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • A proven ability to multi-task and prioritize various projects at any given time.
