Position Overview

The OH&S Co-op student will assist in various improvements, projects and initiatives under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, Projects Development and Evaluation.  

The successful candidate will:

  1. Gain experience within the OHS Team.
  2. Work on assignment and projects to provide opportunities for engagement with various levels of staff
  3. Develop an understanding of the workings within the OHS department and FortisBC.
  4. Gain experience in effective team and partner collaborations.


Some of the responsibilities and duties of this position involve:

  • Assisting with research
  • Support program initiatives 
  • Assist with reviewing documentation and provide feedback and ideas
  • Familiarize and track internal and external resources on related projects and activities; 
  • Other duties as determined.


The ideal candidate will have strong communications, research and organizational skills.  They will possess the ability to quickly learn processes, to identify and organize relevant information and be able to work independently. 


This opportunity is best suited for a 4th year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution. 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a related Degree program (please attach a copy of your latest transcript in the "documents" section of the application process) 
  • Current enrollment and active participation in a recognized Co-op Program

Other Qualifications

  • Experience and interest in Kinesiology/Sport Science and Ergonomics
  • Excellent reporting writing, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Strong presentation skills;
  • Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Interpersonal skills – able to collaborate on projects, maintain effective relationships, and communicate clearly; 
  • Independent - ability to work well under limited supervision
