Position Overview

The assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, operations staff, managers and others in different departments in the organization. It will provide an understanding of biogas purification, operations of biogas analysis equipment, interface with the natural gas system and engage in activites that support emissions reduction-related projects directly supporting the FortisBC Renewable Natural Gas program.


The work will consist of various assignments related to new biogas project development, and operation of biogas equipment, such as:

  • Supporting feasibility studies and preliminary design development
  • Preliminary equipment sizing and selection
  • Compiling data on industry technology trends, including hydrogen as an energy source
  • Analysis of operational data to assess biogas plant performance
  • Supporting the execution of projects on existing biogas plants
  • Ongoing operational data reporting


  • Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Student - Third or Fourth year preferred
  • Understanding of gas piping, processes and operations is preferred
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Competence in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license
