Position Overview

This is an 8 month term starting in January 2023.

Working in the FortisBC Gas Lab, the Gas Lab Co-op Student will work closely in a fast paced, multi-disciplined team to ensure the quality, integrity and safety of the supply of natural gas to our distribution network and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will include collecting samples of natural gas throughout the distribution system, analyzing various samples for gas composition and odorant concentrations through gas chromatography, preparing reports based from results and recommending operational changes if required. The Gas Lab Co-op Student will also receive fluid samples from Operational personnel for analysis, reports and recommendations.
  • Many other opportunities may arise for the Gas Lab Co-op Student due to the changing nature of the workload and assignments. This could include supporting the FortisBC LNG Engineering team, RNG team or other areas requiring process support services.

Requirements

  • Chemical Engineering or Chemistry Student - Third or Fourth year preferred
  • Competent public speaker
  • Experience or knowledge with AutoCAD and competence in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
