Position Overview

You’re a strategic communications mastermind, and you know the best ideas come out when collaborating with partners. Your skills genuinely shine when you grow ideas into lcommunications plans that intertwinewith business objectives and will resonate with audiences. The abilities and know-how you possess make you a perfect fit for our Communications Insights Specialist role.

Joining our External Communications team, you’ll develop and collaborate on communications strategies for our team to execute that support our business priorities and brand.

You’ve got a knack for connecting all the dots to create a holistic plan, and you keep your teammates and partners engaged every step of the way. Deadlines will come quickly and can shift in the blink of an eye, but your flexible approach ensures you’re always on top of things.

In year 1, you will:

  • Prepare communications briefs that are strategically aligned with our brand and meet business objectives.
  • Develop solid working relationships with business partners across the organization, identifying their communications needs and responding to any issues that may arise.  
  • Assist the Communications Insights Manager and Communications Project Management team with project planning to identify resources, timing and budget allocation, and adjust briefs as necessary.
  • Participate in all aspects of communications projects, from briefing meetings, internal presentations all the way to project launch.

In year 2, you will:

  • Anticipate business partner’s communications needs and actively seek out insights and information in order to develop robust communications briefs.
  • Motivate and encourage input from partners and objectively bridge competing values and ideas to bring forward the best possible communications strategies.
  • Understand the communications needs of stakeholders and target audiences to write briefs that align needs to business priorities. 

What it takes:

  • A diploma in Communications, Marketing or a related program from an accredited post-secondary institution, plus a minimum of four years related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in the energy industry is desirable; experience in a regulated environment is preferred.
  • The ability to develop solid working relationships with business units at various functional levels.
  • An effective collaborator who works at their best with team members and partners.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and presentation communications skills
