Position Overview
You’re ready to take on the challenge of working on our AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Project where you will be part of a team building a more reliable natural gas system for our more than one million customers across British Columbia? The Gas AMI Project represents one of the largest Major Projects in FortisBC’s history as we upgrade all our gas meters to implement automated technologies that will improve the safety, resiliency, sustainability, and reliability of our natural gas system.
Reporting to the Talent Manager, AMI you will leverage your Human Resources expertise in a unionized environment to support the AMI project in our recruitment and employee relations activities and help make thoughtful and focused decisions. Adapting to an ever-changing project environment is your specialty, and you will utilize your exceptional HR generalist problem-solving and communication skills to provide the best support possible. We’re excited for you to bring your positive attitude and willingness to learn while holding the temporary Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project People position.
This role is responsible for executing the AMI unionized recruitment strategy, researching and providing recommendations on employee related project initiatives, and HR support in alignment with AMI project goals and company objectives.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct full-cycle recruitment for internal and external hiring including understanding requirements, building applicant pools, developing strategic sourcing strategies, shortlisting and evaluating candidates, guiding candidates and hiring managers through the recruitment journey, and negotiating offers.
- Identify the specific needs for the project and execute hiring practices to find the right talent.
- Attend industry events and indigenous career fairs to seek and attract talent.
- Coordinate, prepare and advertise job postings within SuccessFactors and external recruitment platforms.
- Coordinate with external recruitment agencies to assist with placement of project resources.
- Lead interviews in partnership with our AMI leadership and business stakeholders.
- Support the AMI People team with employee-related matters.. ,
- Coordinate the planning and logistics of required AMI People activities for the AMI project in collaboration with the broader People team.
- Coordinate and maintain AMI People information within SharePoint and assist in research.
- Support the team with various administrative duties that may include the actioning of changes to employee records and invoicing.
What it takes:
- A degree or diploma in HR or business admin, plus at least two (2) years’ experience in human resources within a unionized setting.
- Experience with interpreting and applying collective agreement provisions
- A proven ability to work both independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to be flexible and support the AMI project as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage stakeholders and employees.
- Proficient with interpersonal, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, organizational, and planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders; both internal and external.
- Project Management experience would be an asset.
Additional Information
- Some travel throughout the FortisBC service territory may be required.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
