Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Renewable Gas Supply, this position is responsible for identifying, analyzing and progressing new RG supply projects and management of existing supply contracts.


  • Contribute to earnings growth by identifying, pursuing, and capturing new project opportunities principally involving Renewable Gas, by working with external developers, corporations, governments, engineering firms, technology service providers, and First Nations.
  • Educate and support customers to develop business cases through an understanding of various supply arrangments. Report on progress towards objectives to senior management and other company personnel and identify issues that may affect achievement of objectives
  • Develop business cases and project plans to advance proposed projects from idea phase through to implementation. Coordinate market and technical feasibility analyses and financial analysis of project initiatives.
  • Develop and negotiate contracts using established guidelines for the RG program.  Prepare regulatory applications and respond to Information Requests.  Liaise with regulatory, finance, legal, gas supply and other internal departments to ensure regulatory, reporting and other requirements are met.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to integrate new supply projects into existing FortisBC systems and support CNG and LNG sales team with RG-related work. Collaborate with other departments to ensure their requirements are met for each new supply project or contract.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and key stakeholders; collaborate with other departments to ensure a common understanding of growth and retention objectives. Manage internal and external relationships on related projects and activities.
  • Maintain an understanding of business issues affecting suppliers and customers in the RG sector. Work with representatives from various stakeholders, industry associations, suppliers and other utilities to foster safe and competitive RG markets.
  • Remain current on information related to current technological advances and constraints for the RG industry.


  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business or Commerce or equivalent from a recognized program plus 4 to 7 years related professional sales, business development and marketing experience in the energy industry; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated sales and customer account/relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate at a high level, with the ability to understand commercial relationships and interpret and integrate fairly complex technical and contract information
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present information, motivate and influence others
  • Demonstrated ability to research and document relevant topics for potential customers
  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with technical staff in different areas of the business
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement marketing strategies and plans
  • Knowledge of the regulatory process an asset
  • Knowledge of energy market place
  • Knowledge on contracts and service agreements
  • Knowledge of RG an asset
  • Contribute to preparation and manage budgets
