Position Overview

You put the health and safety of others and yourself front and centre in everything you do. Your passion for safety moves you to lead innovative solutions and engage departments and business leaders to implement the best practices for employees. We’re seeking someone like you to join us as an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Business Partner.

In this role, you’ll apply scientific methodology and professional judgment to guide how we can minimize hazardous exposure risks in the workplace and promote employee health and wellness at work.

You leverage your top-notch critical thinking and decision-making skills to address areas of opportunity in our processes and provide direction to business partners to mitigate risks in the workplace. Excellent communications and collaboration skills allow you to tailor solutions to the partners you serve and build solid relationships across departments that continue the growth of the safety culture you champion.

In year 1, you will:

  • Become familiar with hazards and risks inherent to various business units and relevant hazard control programs by observing processes, procedures, and operating conditions at worksites.
  • Learn and be able to speak to our OHS processes, procedures and standards.
  • Build relationships and network with internal and external customers. 
  • Conduct internal evaluations and audits and provide suggestions for continual improvement of our safety Management system.

In year 2, you will:

  • Lead a number of occupational hygiene programs focused on hazardous materials exposure prevention.
  • Join and participate in our Certificate of Recognition (COR) auditing team.
  • Act as a support resource for our internal clients and subject matter expert in areas of occupational hygiene.

What it takes:

  • A diploma or degree in a related discipline, such as Health and Safety, Human Resources, Business or others, with four years of related experience.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) designations are considered an asset.
  • COR or International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 45001 auditor certifications are considered an asset.
  • Creative and innovative thinking skills for your approach to evaluating physical, chemical and biological hazards and stresses in the workplace.
  • A methodical and meticulous approach for conducting assessments and in controlling physical, chemical and biological hazards.
