Position Overview

You’re a strategic mastermind who can balance the needs of stakeholders, such as customers, municipalities and regulators, with one hand tied behind your back. That’s because you know how to tailor customer-centric programs and can build effective, collaborative relationships that feed into evergreen programs.

This may be the perfect opportunity for you as our Conservation and Energy Management department is looking to hire a Program Manager. You will be part of the multi-talented backbone of Conservation and Energy Management that oversees the long-term strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our team.

We need you to take a proactive approach in streamlining processes and engaging stakeholders to ensure our programs continue to push the needle on sustainable energy practices. Help us rethink our energy future.

In this role, you will:

  • Take a proactive and high engagement approach to ensuring our energy efficiency programs and application processes are customer-focused, easy and streamlined.
  • Oversee our strategic direction and vision for key marketing and outreach to entice customers, communities, municipalities and businesses to engage in our energy efficiency programs.
  • Hire, train and create positive working relationships with program support teams.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with the internal teams, such as Energy Solutions, Climate Action Partners, and Community Relations and key external interest groups, including local governments, Indigenous communities, educational organizations and more.
  • Set practical and obtainable goals for program and department development plans.
  • Provide well-articulated and accurate reporting to the British Columbia Utilities Commission and other internal documents.
  • Oversee program operations, including the day-to-day rebate processing and administration, and collaborate with teams to streamline processes.
  • Develop competitive bidding contracts, legal contracts and terms and conditions in conjunction with procurement and legal departments.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related discipline from a recognized program, plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience with demonstrated success.
  • A proven track record of building relationships in complex work environments.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skillset.
  • Ability to work and learn independently in a fast-paced environment with complex processes.
  • A ‘get it done right’ and ‘can do’ perspective that fosters strengthened relationships through every engagement.
  • Previous experience with delivering and communicating Demand Side Management programs and working in a regulated utility would be an asset.
  • Previous experience with residential new home construction, deep energy retrofits and energy step codes would be an asset
  • Valid BC driver’s license.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
